DTS Frequently Asked Questions

1.) What is a DTS?

DTS is a five month missionary training program.  During the three month lecture phase we bring in speakers from around the world to teach on topics such as The Father Heart of God, Nature and Character of God, Hearing the Voice of God, Relationships and Forgiveness, Evangelism, Inductive Bible Study, Spiritual Warfare, Intercession, Apologetics, World Missions, etc. During the lecture phrase you will spend time every week in small groups, one-on-one discipleship, worship and intercession.  This is followed by a two month outreach to different nations of the world.

Our goal is to see our DTS students become missionaries. We want to see them trained and released into God's destiny for their lives, fulfilling the Great Commission (Mark 16:15). For this reason Lecture Phase focuses on knowing God so that we can then make him known around the world.

2.) What country will I go to during the Outreach Phase?

Our desire is to have our students reach out in places where they can make a difference by proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ. Our staff seeks the Lord and His desires for each school and then prayerfully considers where to go on outreach. Many times a country is not decided upon until after the school begins.

Previous Outreach locations; Israel, Peru, Thailand,  Asia, China, India, Liberia - West Africa, Ghana, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, Mongolia, Mexico, South Korea, Argentina and Chile.

3.) How much does everything cost?

The Lecture Phase costs $2,700. Outreach Phase is approximately $3,000, depending on your outreach location. It will not exceed $3,200.

4.) How is the housing situation arranged while I am attending your school?

Our base has dormitory style living for our students. You will be in a guys or girls dorm area.

5.)    Do I receive credits for the University of the Nations?

Yes. You receive an average of 20-21 credits for the completion of DTS. These are accepted by some Christian Colleges.

6.)    Can I bring my personal computer or my vehicle with me to the school?

We do allow students to bring laptops; our base does have wireless.  They are useful for doing your homework and for writing the reports that come up during the school.  We just ask that people use them sparingly and  do not let them take away from what God has for them during this time. You are also allowed to bring your own personal car.

7.)    What does a typical day look like?

A typical day during the lecture phase of the DTS is very busy.  We start out with breakfast at 7:15 then we meet together for devotions as a team.  We will then go spend time alone with God for around 45 minutes every day.  Three days a week we have worship.  On the other two mornings we have intercession, where we pray for the nations of the world.  At 10:00 a.m. we have class for two hours.  Lunch at noon.  Every week, every DTS student around the world is required to do at least 10 hours of work duties, so they're broken up into two hours per day.  Once a week we will have small groups and one-on-one discipleship with our staff.  Twice a week we have either afternoon or evening class.  We have evangelism training weekly and Friday nights are fun nights where we do things together as a team.

The outreach days vary greatly depending on the culture of the country we go to, but they're also very busy.  We do evangelism in every nation that we go to, often using dance and drama then personal sharing of the gospel.

8.)    Do I have holidays off to go home or are there any breaks scheduled while I’m attending the Lecture Phase of the school?

If you are attending the fall school, you will have a Thanksgiving break. You will be released the Wednesday before Thanksgiving by 1pm and you are expected to return on Sunday by no later than 9pm.
